Gary R. Gecelter, M.D., FACS, FACG
Gary R. Gecelter, M.D., FACS, a world-renowned expert in surgical oncology and laparoscopic surgery, is the Chairman of the Department of Surgery at St. Francis and oversees the Hospital's growing noncardiac surgical program, which includes advanced technology and minimally-invasive techniques in esophageal, pancreatico-biliary, colon, urological, ear, nose and throat and orthopedic surgery. Dr. Gecelter served as the Vice-Chairman of the Department of Surgery at the North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System before joining St. Francis in 2008. Dr. Gecelter is a founding member of the Minimally Invasive Fellowship Council and a member of numerous national and international societies, including the Society of Surgical Oncology and Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract. He is also a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and has been invited to lecture throughout the world, including the United Kingdom, South Africa, Chile, Argentina and Colombia.
